The child was given the name Giott, in reverence to the earth spirit Gaia, and rasied as a Geomancer. Because of how he was discovered, many in the tribe believed that Giott was born as a gift from the planet itself. Over time, even the skeptics in the tribe acknowledged that the boy was special; most of the Geomancers were gifted with magic and followed the path of the Warpriest or Magus, but Giott had a very different gift. As he reached adolescence he developed a strong affinity with the world around him, manifested in the ability to manipulate earth, stone and metal with his mind alone. His abilities led the tribe's elders to believe that the boy truly was one with the planet, possibly born of The Resonance itself; but to what end, they did not know. So they continued their lifelong quest, reinvigorated with the belief that the same divine presence they had been searching for would reveal the true purpose of the young caveborn one. As Giott grew to adulthood, many of the Geomancers were reaching the end of their time in the mortal realm. As their members did not bear any children of their own, the long-lived Geomancer tribe was fated to come to its end while Giott was but a young man. The increasingly-feeble mystics implored Giott to continue their search, believing that somewhere in the deepest recesses of the earth laid saturations of pure elemental enegry, the very source of The Resonance itself, and holding a special purpose for the one born of Gaia. And so, after leading the tribe that raised him to its final peaceful rest in their mountain homeland, Giott set out into society, determined to continue the Geomancers' mission but unsure where to begin, carrying the gifts bestowed by the very planet he roamed, and the weight of prohpecy yet-to-be fulfilled. |
